Point-of-care tests

Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Carpegen has developed from 2007 to 2015 in cooperation with Systec a proprietary point-of-care diagnostic system for nucleic acid analysis. The uniquely fast, sensitive and cost-effective Gyronimo System combines nucleic acid extraction from various sample types with subsequent real-time PCR analysis. The fully automated detection procedure can be operated by untrained personnel, e.g. in the doctor's office during the patient's visit or in a hospital at the patient's bedside.

In December 2016, the Gyronimo platform was sold to diagnostic specialist Curetis GmbH, Holzgerlingen. The worldwide rights for dental diagnostics, as well as environmental and food safety testing are retained by Carpegen and Systec.
